Sony<\/strong> has unveiled the latest addition to its range of Cinema Line, the Sony FX6<\/strong><\/a>. It is a cinema camera with a high-sensitivity full-frame sensor<\/strong> capable of recording 4K<\/strong> images internally<\/strong>. Due to its new size and video specifications, the Sony FX6 offers innovative performance for those who want to create audiovisual content. <\/p>\n

The FX6 is the third in the Cinema Line range, with the Sony Venice<\/a> and FX9<\/a> above it. As part of this line, the FX6 shares some elements with them. Starting with the sensor, the FX6’s sensor is a single-chip, full-frame 35mm CMOS sensor<\/strong> with 12.9 megapixels, being 10.2 MP<\/strong> effective, but with a high sensitivity and dynamic range of 15 stops<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

It has several built-in optical neutral density filters<\/strong>, from 1\/4 ND to 1\/28ND. Sensitivity can be varied from 800 ISO to 12,800<\/strong>. The camera body includes an E-mount<\/strong>, making it a very versatile camera with which to work with a wide range of E-mount lenses. <\/p>\n

One of the headlines of this new release is the integrated video capabilities, most notably 4K recording internally<\/strong>. Among the multitude of recording options is XAVC All-I DCI 4K with 10-bit depth<\/strong> and 4:2:2<\/strong> sampling at 60p<\/strong>, or QFHD at 120p, and going up to 240p in Full HD. In other words, we can record in slow and fast motion<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Among the recording options, Sony offers different types of gamma<\/strong> in both SDR<\/strong> and HDR<\/strong>, including S-Cinemetone<\/strong> for linear images or HLG_Live and HLG_Natural<\/strong> for HDR recording. S-Cinemetone color science is one of the features inherited from FX9, being the default option from FX6 and offers rich colors, natural skin tones and shadow detail. <\/p>\n

It also incorporates new autofocus<\/strong> functions with a fast hybrid<\/strong> autofocus that includes intelligent tracking and phase detection<\/strong> on the sensor to track the subject and keep it within the frame. It covers approximately 89% of the image<\/strong> and allows us to obtain accurate and fast results when working in shallow depth-of-field situations. This autofocus system is compatible with many E-mount lenses. <\/p>\n

In terms of connectors, the Sony FX6 has 12G-SDI<\/strong> output for 16-bit RAW<\/strong> work, HDMI<\/strong>, and allows TC<\/strong> output and input. The cards for this model have opted for CFexpress type A, SDXC type UHS-II and UHS-I<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Next month, in December<\/strong>, the new FX6 model of Sony’s Cinema Line range will be available and will cost approximately 6,700 euros.<\/strong><\/p>\n
