Laowa has released its latest lens 9mm F5.6 FF RL<\/a><\/strong> and it can boast to be the widest angle rectilinear lens on the market<\/strong>. The 9mm F5.6 FF RL is designed for 35mm<\/strong> full frame cameras<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

With a wide-angle focal length such as 9mm it is easy for the resulting image to have a fisheye effect, however, according to Venus Optics<\/strong>, Laowa 9mm F5.6 FF RL manages to eliminate aberrations and optical distortions<\/strong> giving us a field of view of up to 135 degrees.<\/strong> The name rectilinear has to do just with this advance that prevents the creation of curved lines typical of a lens as angular as this one, and instead we get straight lines despite the visual and perspective aberrations that are implicit in focal lengths of this caliber. <\/p>\n

With these characteristics it becomes a highly recommended option for architectural or landscape photography<\/strong>. It is a completely manual<\/strong> lens. The focus is manual as there is no electronic connection with the camera body. It is not exactly a bright lens, as it has an aperture of f5.6 to 22.<\/strong> The diaphragm is composed of five blades. <\/p>\n

As for the construction of the lens, it is composed of 14 elements organized in 10 groups<\/strong> with aspherical elements and extra-low dispersion<\/strong>, which according to the manufacturer “guarantee superior image quality”. The minimum focusing distance<\/strong> is 12 centimeters<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

It is a small lens, just 66 millimeters<\/strong> and weighs 350 grams<\/strong> to carry anywhere, “even in your pocket”.<\/p>\n

It is now available on the market and goes on sale for 5 different mount options<\/strong>: Leica M BLack, M Silver, Leica L, Sony FE and Nikon Z for $869 – $979<\/strong>, depending on the mount.<\/p>\n
