{"id":54374,"date":"2018-12-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-17T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/709mediaroom.com\/pond5-and-tribeca-promote-new-filmmakers\/"},"modified":"2025-05-03T21:15:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-03T19:15:18","slug":"pond5-and-tribeca-promote-new-filmmakers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/709mediaroom.com\/en\/pond5-and-tribeca-promote-new-filmmakers\/","title":{"rendered":"Pond5 and Tribeca promote new filmmakers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.709mediaroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/tribeca_pond5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-19469 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.709mediaroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/tribeca_pond5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"350\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pond5.com\/es\/\">Pond5<\/a> and the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tfiny.org\/\"> Tribeca Film Institute<\/a> launched a new program aimed at filmmakers who lack resources during what they call the &#8220;in-between&#8221; stages of film production.<\/p>\n<p>Rejoicing in the full name of the Tribeca Film Institute Pond5 Program, the new initiative is what the two organizations call a &#8220;forward-thinking film fund and ongoing industry program aimed at promoting sustainable careers for independent storytellers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The idea is that filmmakers with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of perspectives receive a variety of support to enhance their visibility in an industry that is very difficult to penetrate. It is specifically aimed at providing resources during the &#8220;in-between&#8221; phases of film production, providing money for non-film activities such as research, travel to festivals, community screenings, etc. <\/p>\n<p>It is being funded by tax-deductible donations, which allows anyone to pledge their support at this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pond5.com\/tfi\">link<\/a> where Pond5 matches donations. Both TFI alumni and Pond5 artists can apply for micro-grants through the program three times a year, providing multiple opportunities to receive funding. Applicants describe their needs during the application process so that the program can provide more targeted and flexible support.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve assessed that there is a period of time in a project cycle where filmmakers need support not only financially, but also from peers and industry veterans. I&#8217;ve been able to create a very flexible fund and program that can meet those needs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>  Amy Hobby, Tribeca Executive Director<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first six grant recipients include a documentary examining the legacy of colonialism in the ancient Aztec Empire, a short film about the discovery of the entrance to hell, written dramas, AR installation pieces and more; demonstrating that the new fund is as versatile as the needs for which it is being configured.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.709mediaroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Captura-de-pantalla-2018-12-17-a-las-23.22.32.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-19468 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.709mediaroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Captura-de-pantalla-2018-12-17-a-las-23.22.32-e1545085428651.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"80\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pond5 and the Tribeca Film Institute launched a new program aimed at filmmakers who lack resources during what they call the &#8220;in-between&#8221; stages of film production.
