With just days to go before NAB<\/a>, which will take place in Las Vegas from April 18-21, JVC<\/a> has previewed information about the two 600 ProHD series cameras it will be unveiling.<\/p>\n

The two new models are the GY-HM620<\/a> and GY-HM660<\/a>, which replace the previous GY-HM600<\/a> and GY-HM650<\/a>, and are intended for news, sports or independent production recording.<\/p>\n

Internal features<\/h4>\n

Both cameras feature three 12-bit CMOS sensors, and offer higher sensitivity than their predecessors, F13 (50Hz) at 2000 lux. They come with a 1.22Mp LCOS viewfinder and a high brightness LCD (3.5″) screen that allows image verification even in bright ambient conditions. <\/p>\n

As for the optics, it is a 23x Fujinon zoom, 29-667mm (35mm equivalent), prepared with optical stabilizer and autofocus. Also included are three ND filters and three rings for manually adjusting zoom, focus and aperture. <\/p>\n

Recording options<\/h4>\n

These 600 series models allow HD and SD recording in 1080p at 60\/50 and XHQ at 50Mbps. Encoding is in H.264 in .MOV.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the two card slots and Relay Mode<\/em>, uninterrupted or simultaneous recording (on both at the same time for backup<\/em>) on SDHC or SDXC cards is possible. In the case of the GY-HM660, it is possible to capture in Full HD on one of the cards while streaming. <\/p>\n

There is also a Pre Rec<\/em> function that supports up to 15 seconds of cache recording.<\/p>\n

Streaming functions<\/h4>\n

One of the most outstanding qualities of the GY-HM660 is its ability to offer streaming through a modem or 4G access point, allowing you to choose between different resolutions, bit rates and formats.<\/p>\n

For this purpose, a SMPTE 2022 error correction system has been incorporated or Zixi’s error correction system (developed jointly with JVC) can be used. It also features automatic repeat request (ARQ) and adaptive bit rate control. <\/p>\n

In addition, this model is compatible with the RTMP broadcasting protocol, which allows direct connection to content broadcasting networks such as Youtubem Ustream and Enetres, as well as streaming production systems such as Streamstar.<\/p>\n
