During the last few days we have received more information about Panasonic’<\/a>s next camera, the DVX200. Although it was already presented at NAB, now Richard Payne (Panasonic’s Pre-Sales Director in UK) has been able to make his own evaluations after some tests carried out with a sample model and beta software. <\/p>\n

The pity is that we won’t be able to see any original clips, since this camera is still under development, but it seems that Richard Payne was quite satisfied with the results obtained.<\/p>\n

The new Panasonic DVX200 is a 4K camera with a 4\/3″ sensor that weighs 2.7kg, larger than popular DSLRs but lighter than other professional models such as the Sony FS7<\/a> (which weighs about 2kg more).<\/p>\n

It has an OLED viewfinder and Full HD touch screen, as well as a focus assist<\/em> mode that allows you to move anywhere in the frame and peaking<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Recording is done on 2 x 32GB SDXC UH3 cards, allowing between 45min and 1h of UHD 50p footage at 150Mbps.<\/p>\n

Among the most outstanding features we find the variable frame rate up to 120fps (in HD mode) and the macro mode, with a 13x zoom to focus on objects up to 1m and being able to reach even (through a function that is on button 4) up to 10cm.<\/p>\n

For his tests, Richard Payne used the V-Log curve during a sunset and found that the camera responded well to skin tones in strong backlight. He also managed to get detail in the black fur of a dog walking in the shadows, so he assures us that the new model works very well in low-light keys. <\/p>\n
