Subscription options are added<\/strong><\/h4>\n

During NAB, Avid<\/a> announced that Media Composer<\/a> will be available for purchase through new subscription options.<\/p>\n

The initial price for Media Composer 8 is $50 per month by choosing the annual subscription, which would make a total of $599. It is also possible to pay $75 per month on a month-to-month basis ($899 per year) if you are not interested in a permanent license. For current users of the editing system, who have versions from 6.5 onwards, the first year’s subscription will cost $40 per month. <\/p>\n

In addition, the ability to purchase the software does not disappear, but can be obtained for $1,299 with one year of Avid support and upgrades. There is another option available for those who choose this payment method, which is renewal support and upgrades for $299 per year. <\/p>\n

For large companies needing 20 or more Avids, the company has recommended the use of floating licenses that are distributed through a centralized server, or choosing the “month-to-month” option, which allows freedom to cancel or add licenses as needed.<\/p>\n

One of the advantages of the subscription is that it includes access to Symphony, NewBlue Titler Pro 2, Sorenson Squeeze Lite and Boris Continuum Complete Lite. By purchasing Media Composer, these offerings are reduced to version 1 of NewBlue Titler Pro and Sorenson Squeeze; however, all of them can always be had for additional supplements. <\/p>\n

Avid has said that the new features of version 8 will appear once subscriptions have been implemented, which is expected to be in the second quarter of this year, and has published comparison charts<\/a> of the total costs of the various options.<\/p>\n

Interplay Sphere<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Among Avid’s changes and renovations is Interplay Sphere<\/a>. This platform that allows editors to work remotely (for a starting price of $35,000) has been renamed Media Composer | Cloud. <\/p>\n

Avid Everywhere<\/strong><\/h4>\n

And as could not be missing in the news, the strategic vision Avid Everywhere<\/a>, with which the company wants to centralize the creation and distribution of content not only from their systems but also from those of third parties.<\/p>\n

This will be done using MediaCentral, a platform that simplifies workflows thanks to the integration of all systems, together with the Media Director, Media Index and Media Distribute modules. Thus, for example, we will be able to output files that are on ISIS (or any other non-Avid system) using the centralized playout services. <\/p>\n

The interface used will be Avid Media Central UX (formerly Interplay Central), which can be accessed from a software, web browser or mobile terminal.<\/p>\n
