Lightworks 12<\/strong><\/a> has been officially released for Mac operating systems, making it the first editing system capable of working on all three major platforms.<\/p>\n

This software, which also has a completely free version, could already be used without any problems on Windows and Linux computers. Now, in addition to cross-platform compatibility, some new features and improvements have been added in version 12. <\/p>\n

The first thing you will notice is the more responsive user interface and a more powerful structure for content management, as well as the new engine that improves playback performance.<\/p>\n

New features include the ability to import XMLs from FCP 7 complete with transitions and audio levels, and simplified export options.<\/p>\n

A Blur effect and two effects for color correction, called “Colour Correction” and “Selective Colour Correction”, have been added.<\/p>\n

As for new format support, it will now be possible to work with ProRes files up to 4K.<\/p>\n

EditShare<\/a> has also announced a change in pricing due to the increased cost of codec licenses and cross-platform capability. The existing subscription model has been replaced by new licenses that can be monthly, annual or permanent, but will not be automatically renewed. <\/p>\n
