Blackmagic Design<\/a> has taken advantage of NAB<\/a> to release updates and new products that bring important improvements to the audiovisual industry.<\/p>\n

These are the new features:<\/p>\n

Ultra HD and 6G-SDI technology<\/h4>\n

One of its main themes this year is Ultra HD resolution and the innovative 6G-SDI technology, which allows handling this resolution through a single BNC cable.<\/p>\n

6G-SDI switches between SD, HD and Ultra HD, so products with this option can continue to be used for all other jobs and switch as needed.<\/p>\n

The first products in the world to carry this support are HyperDeck Studio Pro, UltraStudio 4K and DeckLink 4K Extreme, all from Blackmagic Design. In addition, HyperDeck Studio Pro also has an update that enables direct recording for Ultra HD ProRes 422 HQ. <\/p>\n

DaVinci Resolve 10<\/h4>\n

The new version of this powerful color correction system features new editing tools, OpenFX plug-in support and Easy DCP<\/a> integration, among its most important new features.<\/p>\n

Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera<\/h4>\n

Following last year’s launch of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera<\/a>, Blackmagic Design wanted to achieve a model with a cinematic look and a really small size.<\/p>\n

For this purpose, they have developed the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, with a Super 16 1080HD sensor and 13 stops of dynamic range.<\/p>\n

It features the Micro Four Thirds lens mount system to be able to use low cost lenses, but also Super 16 cine lenses through an adapter.<\/p>\n

In addition, it also has a built-in stereo microphone, LANC, HDMI microphone for monitoring, a solid handle that holds a removable battery and SD card recorder. It records in CinemaDNG RAW and ProRes 422 HQ. <\/p>\n

\"blackmagicpocketcinemacameraangle\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Blackmagic Production Camera 4K<\/h4>\n

It is the first of the Ultra HD products introduced this year and features a Super 35 sensor, with global shutter and 12 stops of dynamic range.<\/p>\n

It is housed in the same chassis as the current Blackmagic Cinema Camera so all third-party accessories can fit perfectly. It has a compatible EF lens mount, as the sensor of this camera is physically too large for the MFT mount. <\/p>\n

It records in CinemaDNG RAW and ProRes 422 HQ formats on solid state disks, with Thunderbolt and 6G-SDI outputs that allow Ultra HD video output.<\/p>\n

The Blackmagic Production Camera 4K also includes a 6G-SDI output for Ultra HD monitoring on monitors that support it and includes overlays. However, this output can be downscaled to display HD when necessary or another type of monitor is being used. <\/p>\n

SmartScope Duo<\/h4>\n

Blackmagic Design wanted to design a solution that could be used for live production, color correction and broadcast in general; and to achieve this they have added a high-speed processor to an enhanced version of SmartView<\/a> Duo.<\/p>\n

The SmartScope Duo features all the scopes available in UltraScope<\/a> (waveform, vectorscope, RGB parade, YUV parade, histogram, vumeters), and any combination of these can be performed on the two 8-inch LCDs.<\/p>\n

It is the same size as SmartView Duo and supports SD and HD.<\/p>\n

\"smartscopeduoangle\"<\/a><\/p>\n

ATEM Production Studio 4K<\/h4>\n

It is the first production mixer to support Ultra HD resolution natively, in addition to HD and SD.<\/p>\n

It has a total of 8 inputs, 4 of which are 6G-SDI and the other four HDMI. Among its functions we can find frame synchronization on each input, an upstream keyer, transitions, two downstream keys, a media pool with 20 RGBA stills, two media players, a Photoshop plugin and much more. <\/p>\n

It also includes a built-in multi-view to monitor up to 8 video sources, although this output is still in HD, so standard monitors can still be used. If you are working in higher resolutions, ATEM Production Studio 4K has a program that performs a “down convert” for the output. <\/p>\n

On the front panel there are buttons to switch the live auxiliary output, which can also be monitored from the LCD display.<\/p>\n

Blackmagic Audio Monitor<\/h4>\n

This audio monitor has been designed to have an attractive model and all the features requested by professionals.<\/p>\n

It includes two subwoofers, SDI inputs, an LCD screen and HDMI output. Its SDI inputs are also 6G-SDI, and it automatically switches between Ultra HD, HD and SD. <\/p>\n

It is possible to exclude audio from any of the SDI channels simply by using the buttons on its front panel.<\/p>\n

The vumeters can be configured between their different types of measurements and have an RGB LED design.<\/p>\n

It also has analog audio and AES\/EBU inputs, and the HDMI output supports Ultra HD TVs.<\/p>\n

ATEM Studio Converter 2<\/h4>\n

It has a more attractive design with integrated power supply. Its rear panel has most of the analog audio connections, including the new 6G-SDI technology and front panel controls, as well as a microphone and speaker input. <\/p>\n

DeckLink Mini Recorder and DeckLink Mini Monitor<\/h4>\n

Following the introduction at last year’s IBC of the UltraStudio Mini Recorder and UltraStudio Mini Monitor, Blackmagic Design is now introducing these two new products, which are versions of these models but using PCIe (instead of SDI and HDMI).<\/p>\n

These cards are very small, so they fit in regular PCIe slots and even smaller profiles. Both work in SD and HD, and have support for Mac, Windows and Linux. <\/p>\n

Blackmagic MultiDock<\/h4>\n

It consists of a rack unit with four 2.5″ hard drive slots, allowing hard drives and SSDs to be inserted through a single Thunderbolt connection to the computer.<\/p>\n

It has one SATA chip per slot for maximum speed and supports Mac OS X and Windows (with Thunderbolt connections).<\/p>\n

It will be available in early May for $595.<\/p>\n

Lower prices for the Videohub family<\/h4>\n
