iPi Soft<\/a> has announced the availability of iPi Motion Capture Version 2.0, which will be on display at the upcoming Siggraph 2012, August 7-9.<\/p>\n iPi Motion Capture is a software that allows you to capture motion and thus create characters. It uses sophisticated image processing and algorithms to recognize and track the human body. In this new version, accuracy has been improved, workflow has been streamlined, and the system has a set of tools that will help designers and animators create more realistic characters. <\/p>\n This software is capable of capturing complex human movements, including 360-degree turns. Among the new features we can find new models for the appearance of the characters and skeleton structures with greater precision, on which the head, hands and fingers can be tracked. In addition, the tracking of female characters has been optimized. <\/p>\n New data formats have been included, which will allow more efficient motion capture and help your designers to create believable characters within immersive 3D environments. To improve the workflow we can use the “New Project” wizard (for new users), or “Recent files”, which allows caching (for advanced users). <\/p>\n Finally, video compression has been improved, offering higher compression ratios; and, through the ASUS Xtion<\/a> sensor, RGB recording is now possible.<\/p>\n At the end of last year, support for two Kinect<\/a> sensors was announced, i.e. you could use these two at the same time to capture motion and work with them connected to a single PC. Now, support for new devices has been included, such as ASUS Xtion and the new Kinect drivers (for Windows). In addition to these, it can also work with PlayStation Eye<\/a> cameras or webcams. <\/p>\n This is a demonstration of what can be done with iPi Motion Capture, with examples of the characters created and the recordings of the real actors. In this case, Kinects were used. <\/p>\n
