48fps playback of RED Epic materials

Once again, the company Assimilate surprises us with its innovations, speeding up the work in filming and facilitating the transition to post-production.

A few days ago they announced that through Scratch and Scratch Lab (in its version 6.1) it will be possible to play stereoscopic material from the Epic NET at 48fps.

One of the possibilities offered by the RED Epic is that it can be connected directly to the computer. By taking advantage of this and the new Assimilate feature, we can speed up the daily workflow and have the best quality on set. Any director, cinematographer or DIT can playback and review the RAW Stereo Epic dailies from the camera and on set.

Many times when we want to manipulate materials from RED we have to make transcodifications to be able to take them to our work teams. One of the great advantages of working with Scratch is that all the time spent on format and size changes disappears, which makes the transition to post-production much easier.

In addition, if we want to use Scratch as a final finishing tool, these rules also apply. It is also possible to playback at 48fps even if the materials have had color corrections or VFX (visual effects) applied to them.

Scratch and Scratch Lab version 6.1 works for Mac Os X and Windows 7.
