GoPro launches its new platform GoPro Labs platform for users who want to access new features on their action cameras. For those users who want to squeeze more out of their cameras and have more precise control of the image, they will be able to access advanced features that the company has been developing.
Unlike beta applications, GoPro labs gives access to tools that have already been developed but have not been installed on gopros. It has been a system developed by GoPro engineers and technicians that can now be installed via the new GoPro Labs firmware.
The first release of GoPro Labs focuses on 2 main tools, RealSteady GO optimization and QR code camera control. The advanced stabilization system of the GoPro Hero 8 Black features GoPro’s newly acquired RealSteady GO system. Since the company acquired this system, they have given the cameras new levels of stabilization and improved post-production work. Now with RealSteady GO optimization, even better results are achieved by correcting the rolling shutter.
The other major benefit available to those who join GoPro Labs is QR code control. This feature is available on HERO8 Black and is perfect for expanding remote recording capabilities. Thanks to QR code control, it is possible to make time-lapse recordings such as timelapses over several days or to record remotely due to circumstances. This eliminates the restrictions of wi-fi range. By scanning the code with the camera you have remote access to image control. You can program the remote start of the capture, capture images using the motion sensor, or by detecting a certain speed using GPS. You can also customize some personalized commands using the QR code and change the size of the chapters among other things.
