SmallHD has joined the wave of launches taking advantage of the BSC in London to announce its new monitor SmallHD 2403 High Brightness. They present it as the 24-inch production monitor with the highest brightness in the world. There are already several brands that take advantage of this professional meeting to unveil their new products, such as the new Sony Trimaster monitors.
SmallHD adds the new 2403 to its range of Full HD production monitors with the added attraction of increased brightness and visibility in full daylight. Of course, from the brand ensure that the fact of having more brightness even in daylight, does not affect the color or contrast of the image. It is a 24-inch IPS LCD with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 and capable of reaching a maximum brightness of 1600 nits. Among the range of production monitors we were discussing, SmallHD already launched its HDR model capable of reaching 1000 nits, so it is quite a considerable advance for a monitor of this caliber.
The other highlight of this new monitor is the lightweight design developed by the brand, weighing only 6 kilos, making it the lightest in the series. The fact that it is made of aluminum also gives it greater resistance, which is just what it needs to work under any conditions.
The monitors leave the factory calibrated, with the company’s warranty. The color space reproduced by the SmallHD 2403 HB is only Rec 709, and it is here that it mainly lags behind high-end monitors, but nevertheless maintains a contrast of 3100:1 and a viewing angle of 178 degrees.
Among the image control tools, 2403 HB includes waveform monitor, exposure assistant with the possibility to customize IRE ranges or Dual View to see in real time what we are recording.
Connections include 1 HDMI, 4 3G-SDI ports (two input and two output) and a stereo headphone jack.
Thelaunch date is scheduled for spring, we do not have an exact date but we do know that it will be priced at $2,999.
