Canon announces the future EOS-1D X Mark III

Canon has announced the latest product in development, the EOS-1D X Mark III, billed as “the next level in quality and pro DSLR performance”. The previous version that has been king among sports and nature photographers now has a new and even more powerful and faster successor.

The new EOS-1D X Mark III launches with a faster autofocus system thanks to the new algorithms employed. These algorithms feature deep learning that enables AF subject tracking like we’ve never seen before in a Canon. Focus tracking is just as accurate in both Live View and optical viewfinder shooting. In the latter case, the quality in the central part of the sensor has been increased by 28 times over that offered by the previous model. In Live View and video mode, the EOS-1D X Mark III has 252 autofocus zones and Dual Pixel CMOS AF that covers 90% of the sensor horizontally and 100% vertically.

The shutter speed also varies depending on the shooting mode being used. 16 frames per second with the optical viewfinder and a powerful shooting speed of 20 fps in Live View mode thanks to its mechanical or electronic shutter.

New to the camera is Canon’s new CMOS sensor and its DIGIC processor to achieve those exceptional levels of quality even at high sensitivities.

For those interested in video recording, you can record 4K video at 60p. Canon allows internal recording in RAW and 10-bit color depth video with the Canon Log curve.

With field work and news immediacy in mind Canon has improved the camera’s connection systems by doubling the data transfer speed. It includes an Ethernet port or WFT-E9, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. The interface has been simplified to make it easier and more intuitive for users. As it is designed for working days in any kind of situation, they have created a more resistant camera body with magnesium alloy and completely watertight. The batteries now last longer and are LP-E19 batteries.

Canon has not announced a release date yet, although more information about this new Canon gem can be requested through its website.
