AMD introduces new Ryzen 3950X processors

AMD introduces new Ryzen processors Ryzen 3950X a few months after introducing the TRX40 platform with Threadripper 3960X and 3970X. The latest processor to arrive from the Threadripper family includes 16 cores. The other two models 3960X and 3970X included 24 and 32 cores.

The new Ryzen processors are developed with the new 7nm creation process (as opposed to Intel’s 10nm system), which makes them smaller and therefore with less power consumption.

They are very versatile processors thanks to their 88 PCIe 4.0 lanes that allow them to connect to multiple different devices, whether graphics cards or storage devices such as SSD disks that will make the equipment run at very high speeds. There is a downside, however, as there is no compatibility with today’s motherboards. The new TRX40 chipset makes it incompatible with motherboards and at the same time only manages to extract 1o Gb per second from USB 3.2 Gen 2 instead of the 20 Gbps it can reach.

They are processors for those who work with both video and 3D creation, usually jobs that require high machine performance and ultra-fast processing. In fact, they want to stand out from their competitors by having a higher working frequency than other similar models on the market.

According to the manufacturers, speeds between 3.5GHz and 4.7GHz can be reached, which are really high but understandable at the same time with the 16 and 32 cores they have.

It has two working modes depending on the power needed, consuming up to 105W at full power or 65W in its ECO mode. This is one of the updates implemented in its Ryzen Master software and applicable to the 3000 CPUs.

Finally, a launch date can be secured, November 25 with a price of between $1,399 and $1,999 depending on the processor.
