Panavision expands its DXL2 cinema camera system

This weekend, Panavision showcased the latest developments for its DXL2 cinema camera system at the BSC Expo in London.

There were a number of new additions to the system’s capabilities. The first of these is an integrated C-Motion F.I.Z. Module, which allows the use of Arri WCU4 wireless lens control knobs, and contains full lens mapping support.

D2E has also been upgraded to version 2.0. D2E gives DITsthe ability to wirelesslycontrol the LUT and CDL directly on the camera. D2E 2.0 introduces the Comtek audio module , which gives the DXL2 the ability to receive audio streams from the sound mixer via an industry-standard Comtek transmitter. Doing so allows camera proxies to become D2E dailies with color and sound.

Panavision has also developed a DXL-M module and accessory kit for RED DSMC cameras, which includes power and communication ports, the DXL menu system and LiColor2. There is also an additional SDI output that provides users with two independently controlled outputs, as well as clones.

The DXL-M package includes the Panavision Primo HDR viewfinder and motorized cine lenses.

Wireless and wired control of both the DXL2 and DXL-M is now available for Android as well as existing iOS devices. The Android DXL Control app offers the option to use wired control where wireless is not ideal.
