Sony has announced two new solid state drives for its G series, designed for stable recording of 4K footage at high transfer rates.
These two disks have the following capacities and prices:
- 480 GB: $287
- 960 GB: $539
The longevity of Sony’s disks is measured in TBW, which is short for “Terabytes written”. Therefore, the largest volume disk (960 GB) would have a life of up to 2400 TBW, while the smallest (460 TB) would reach 1200 TBW. Taking these figures to time data, if the disk is filled 5 times a week, it would have about 10 years of use.
On the other hand, the transfer speed assured by the company can be higher than 550 Mbps.
