Although we had already been warned since the last NAB show, held in April, when The Foundry released the beta version of Nuke 11.0. Yesterday, the developer of this VFX and compositing software released the final version of the program.
In Christy Anzelmo’s words, “This release includes updates across the entire Nuke family, which will accelerate the speed at which artists work. So artists will waste less time on technical issues, which they can direct to creative choices.”
Among its new features, this 11.0 version includes a new collaborative workflow, which allows artists to share their work. These Live Groups allow the creation of external scripts that, without the need to process intermediate states, can be referenced in other scripts. The fact that these Live Groups are automatically updated each time a script is loaded allows artists to work simultaneously on different sections of the same project.
This new version also includes the new Frame Server, which allows users to render in the background while continuing to work.
In addition, Nuke 11.0 provides users with common configurations, tutorials, examples… to facilitate the start-up process when working with Nuke.
The LensDistortion mode has also been completely revamped, offering a wider range of lens distortion tools with better results. Allowing to simulate effects such as fisheye, as well as wide-angle… Y the Smart Vector system has been upgraded.
Users can now cache a sequence or part of a sequence. In the words of The Founder ” This is ideal for users working on smaller machines, or with timelines too large for RAM.”
The Nuke family has been updated following industry standards, with the aim of reducing incompatibilities between different software, not only internally, but also with external companies such as ARRI and RED camera formats.
Also, Nuke’s OpenCL support has been extended on Windows and Linux operating systems.
