Assimilate has always been the company most closely linked to RED and the first to support its innovations, from the original RED One camera to the latest RED Epic (such as the recently announced 48fps stereoscopic footage playback ). To continue in their line and not to be left behind, a few days ago they announced support in Scratch and Scratch Lab for REDgamma3 and REDcolor3, the latest advances in color technology that RED has carried out.
Scratch has established itself as the post-production standard for working with RED materials in 4K and 5K, enabling real-time playback and simplifying processes such as R3D file ingest, conforming, color correction, finishing and mastering.
Thanks to the latest update of this color technology, Scratch and Scratch Lab users, as well as other digital imaging technicians, will see an improvement in image quality during monitoring and will have more possibilities for color correction, even when using REDcode RAW images.
On the one hand, REDgamma3 will help DITs and DPs by providing them with an improved gamma curve for image monitoring, so the dailies workflow at Scratch Lab will be greatly improved.
REDcolor3 and REDlogFilm working together in Scratch will offer its users the best combination for color correction and final finishing.
However, Scratch and Scratch Lab are not the only ones that can support them. RED recently released an update to RED Final Cut Studio 3 Installer, which includes REDCODE Quicktime codec version 5.0, capable of supporting REDcolor3, REDgamma3 and REDlogFilm in Apple Color (for Final Cut 7). Here is the download link and all the information.
