Here you have more than 20 tutorials on the new Premiere Pro CS6 that Adobe has just released. Most of them are very basic, but also very useful for those who are new to Premiere or those who want to know in depth the new features of this version.

For those who are interested in Adobe’s new collection, 709 Media Room brings together several online courses a la carte where you can learn techniques such as editing, effects or color correction.

1. Introduction

In this first tutorial an introduction to the new Premiere interface is given with a (visual) comparison of the previous version. In addition, some tips on capturing are given.

New project

Detailed explanation of the configuration of the settings to be able to create a new project.

3. Project Panel and Hover Scrub

The Project Panel has been completely redesigned in this version, so the different ways of viewing clips are shown here. Also explained is the new “Hover Scrub” feature, which allows you to view and mark in and out points on clips without bringing them into the Source Monitor.

4. Playback controls

In this video they show us how to move through a clip in the “Source Monitor” using the playback controls and their corresponding keyboard shortcuts. In addition, thanks to the “Button Editor” we can add more buttons than the default configuration.

5. Workspaces

How to customize the “Workspace”, save it, move between them, are some of the issues that are explained in this tutorial. In addition, they also tell us what happens if we open a project that comes from the previous version of Premiere, and the different options we have. Finally, how to view in full screen.

6. Keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts help us to edit in a much faster and more comfortable way. In this version of Premiere, you can choose the “Shortcuts” of CS6, CS5.5 or even those of Avid Media Composer or FCP 7.

All these shortcuts can be configured and saved.

7. Automatic configuration of a sequence / Bins

This video explains how to make the sequence automatically adapt to the settings of a clip. Working with bins and folders is also taught.

8. Preferences

Detailed explanation of the most important settings (Preferences) that can be configured in Premiere Pro CS6.

9. “New Item” / Clip offline

Here we are shown the different possibilities we have thanks to the “New Item” icon, with which we can create new sequences, titles, color corrections, bars, etc. It also explains how to relink the media of a clip that is offline.

10. Import

Explanation of the different ways to perform an import from the Media Browser and the Adobe Bridge functionality. It also shows how to bring clips from the Media Browser to the Source Monitor and then to the timeline by simply using keyboard shortcuts.

11. Import PSDs

When importing a Photoshop document we have several options, such as importing individual layers or all of them together; you can select one or several; or import a PSD as a sequence.

12. Subclips

This tutorial explains how to create subclips from the Project Panel and then work with them.

13. Timecode

Knowing how to navigate the timecode (time code) and being able to go quickly to an exact point can be very useful in certain situations. This video explains what the timecode is and how to move through it.

14. Insert and Overlay

Here we explain the difference between Insert and Overlay, two different ways to add a shot to the timeline. It also shows how to place a clip on a mark inside the timeline.

15. Handling and direction of the tracks

If we are working with several tracks, or we want to do it, there are different ways to direct the clips to one track or another (V1, V2, V3, etc.), and some problems may arise. In this tutorial they help us to have clear each of the possible ways so that everything goes as we want.

16. Tools (Part 1)

Here we begin to explain some of Premiere Pro’s tools, starting with the “Trim” tool and the “Ripple” and “Rolling” editing modes.

17. Tools (Part 2)

In part 2 we have the explanation of the tools “Track Select”, “Razor”, “Pen”, “Hand” and “Zoom”.

18. Tools (Part 3)

This is the third part of tutorials on Premiere tools, where we can find a detailed explanation of the “Rate Stretch” tool.

19. Tools (Part 4)

This last part explains the editing tools in “Slide” and “Slip”.

Trim Monitor

The trim is used to adjust a cut with precision. When we activate this mode, a different display mode appears, the “Trim Monitor”. Here we explain how to display it and to understand the possibilities of this window in order to be able to use it later.

Trimming (trimming tool)

In the previous tutorial we had an introduction to trim. Here we show in more depth how to access this mode, use its different options and, as in the other videos, how to get the most out of it thanks to the “Shortcuts” (keyboard shortcuts).

22. Trim with JKL

When we are trimming we can use the JKL keys to go forward (L), stop (K), or go backward (J). This video explains how to use these keyboard shortcuts correctly.

23. “Play Around” and “Loop” functions

“Play around” and “Loop” are two playback options that can help us to quickly visualize when we are editing or trimming a clip.

24. Unlink and Sync Lock

There are times when we need to separate the video from the audio to edit them independently. Here we explain how to do it keeping both linked or using the “Unlink” and/or “Link” options. The “Toggle Sync Lock” feature is also taught, i.e. what allows or disallows keeping the sync locked.

25. Exporting a single frame / Lift and Extract

In this video we can see how to export a single frame from the “Source Monitor” or from the “Program Monitor” and save it as an image (in different possible formats). It also explains how to do it if we want to use this image for DVD authoring in Encore.

The last part of the tutorial explains Lift and Extract, the two ways to delete a clip from the timeline.

26. Editing at 3 or 4 points

Three-point and four-point editing are two techniques widely used in editing. Here we explain what they are, the differences between them and their possible uses.

27. Replace a plane

This last tutorial explains how to insert a plane at any point of the timeline or replace it with another one from a bin, by dragging, from the “Source Monitor”, etc.
