Adobe Anywhere for Premiere and Prelude

Adobe has announced the launch of Adobe Anywhere, its platform designed for collaborative workflows where team members will be able to share and work with centralized media from different locations.

Adobe Anywhere was already shown last April during the celebration of the NAB, and now comes with support for Premiere Pro CC and Prelude CC systems, as well as a forecast for After Effects CC later this 2013. Although it is not part of Creative Cloud, it does need its applications, so it is not possible to work with previous versions such as Premiere Pro CS6.

One of its main goals is to eliminate long waits caused by massive file transfers, media duplication and proxy generation, thus saving time and costs. An “intelligent codec” scales streams to match available bandwidth. According to Adobe, Wi-Fi networks can generally be used to view content on small screens such as tablets or laptops, and even 3G networks allow viewing of certain management issues, such as status information, events and metadata.

It is installed on a cluster of servers and is driven by two main components: Adobe Anywhere Collaboration Hub and Adobe Mercury Streaming Engine. The former contains all project information and metadata, manages user access and allows multiple users to simultaneously access and work with the same project files. On the other hand, Adobe Mercury Streaming Engine is a technology that, used through applications, provides real-time and dynamic visualizations of sequences with GPU-accelerated effects. It is also thanks to this engine that instant access to the media from remote computers is achieved.

Any user who can connect to the network will have the ability to work in a virtual team, being able to connect, edit, share and finish their video productions even if the members are in different locations.

Updates to Premiere Pro CC and Prelude CC have also been announced, bringing 25 new features aimed at increasing speed and easing the editing process. These features include revamped options for title creation and duplication, clip “linking” and “sliding”, and new keyboard shortcuts that let you delete in and out points, navigate between edit points, and toggle between the “source” and “program” monitors.

Adobe Anywhere is aimed at large organizations that work with video, including broadcast environments, educational institutions or government agencies, and allowing them to complement Creative Cloud systems.
