The Apple 16-inch MacBook Pro now has the option of AMD’s GPU, the Radeon Pro 5600M, which allows users to get desktop-like performance with the mobility advantage of notebooks.
With this new option those who work in video editing, post production, color, visual effects, etc…will notice a big difference when working as it triples the performance speed compared to the factory settings of the MacBook Pro. It allows users the option of having several heavy jobs running without slowing down productivity on the machine. Let’s not forget that we are starting from a good base with 64 GB of DDR4 memory.
Rendering times in programs such as DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere or Cinema 4D can now be reduced by 3.4 to half when exporting H.264 media in 4K resolution. By increasing the GPU speed by up to 75%, it is now possible to work even with 8K HDR videos without the need for prior compression.
This new upgrade option comes to the market with 2 configuration options. On one side is the cheaper option for $100 and would be the 8GB GDDR6 memoryoption. The second option would be the 8GB HBM2 memory with a cost of $700. They feature 40 compute units, 5.3 TFlops of performance and both would add to the base GPU of the MacBook Pro.
