Amira users will be happy to hear that as of just a couple of days ago they will be able to capture their images using the latest codec in the ProRes family, ProRes 4444 XQ.
The company has released SUP 3.0 (Software Update Packet) for Amira cameras with more recording modes and other new features.
ProRes 4444 recording
As mentioned above, ProRes 4444 XQ joins the list of available codecs, with Amira Premium, Alexa and Alexa Mini.
Recording in 1920 x 1080 and at 25fps, the transfer rate of this codec would be around 392 Mbit/s. The supported rates range from 0.75 to 120fps in HD and 2K; or from 0.75 to 30fps in 4K, UHD and 3.2K.
MPEG-2 recording
Among the most outstanding features is also the recording at lower rates by using MPEG-2, 422, limited to 50Mbit/s and encapsulated in MXF. In this way, the Amira easily fits into all XDCAM environments.
The speeds currently supported are 23.98p, 25p, 29.97p, 50i and 59.94i.
Multicam Interface
Enables remote control with standard products like the Sony RCP-1500
Other functions allow the return input (PGM) to be activated by ENG controls, as well as genlock synchronization with the option of phase shifting.
Support for Lexar CFAst 2.0 cards
The 3600x 128GB and 256GB cards are now supported; the 3400x and 3500x 64GB cards are not.
Improvements have also been added to time-lapse recording, Wi-Fi remote control and overlay display.
