Andycine has launched its new 4K field monitor, the A6 Plus V2 V2. A6 Plus V2 at a very affordable price point for small productions. The release comes with new firmware that adds signal control via waveform and vectorscope.
The new A6 Plus V2 is a 5.5-inch touchscreen monitor with 4K resolution. Although the resolution of the monitor is 1920 x 1080, it is capable of reproducing images from 23.98 frames per second up to 30 fpsin UHD 4K 3840 x 2160 resolution and 24 frames per second if it is DCI 4K 4096 x 2160. However, in terms of color depth, the Andycine monitor only offers 8 bits, being able to reproduce 16.7 million colors. The color space in which it works is Rec 709.
It is an LED backlit display with a maximum brightness that can reach 500 candelas per square meterand a contrast ratio of 1000:1. Perhaps this is where it differs from other monitors on the market in the same range. The viewing angle is quite wide, about 170º both horizontally and vertically.
LUTs can be loaded into the monitor to display the signal with the LUT applied as it has an SD slot, where we can insert a card containing such LUTs. The connection to the camera body is via HDMI. In addition to the HDMI output there is also a USB-C port.
As mentioned at the beginning, the new display comes with a firmware update for Andycine’s entire A6 product line that allows cinematographers to control the image via waveform and vectorscope.
The new A6 Plus V2 monitor is priced at $199, being the simplest option or $235 if we want to include a hot shoe and case, apart from the visor and tilt arm that are included in the first kit.
