Apple is not usually too present during the NAB celebrations, but even so, it doesn’t stop releasing new products around these dates. A few days ago the latest updates for Final Cut Pro 10.2, Motion 5.2 and Compressor 4.2 software were released.
Final Cut Pro
In the case of Final Cut Pro, several speed improvements have been included, including faster RED RAW processing due to GPU acceleration for transcoding, playback and rendering of RED RAW files. In addition, those with two GPUs will be able to take advantage of these functions.
There are now a greater number of supported codecs, such as XDCAM and XAVC, which no longer require a plug-in to be installed before they can be used.
In order to be able to create 3D titles without having to switch to Motion, templates have been added that allow you to get started easily and include animations and backgrounds.
We also wanted to improve color by adding the Colour Correction effect and Colour Board as part of it, allowing up to 4 scopes to be used for image analysis.
In addition, the company assures that any effect in its library will have shape and color masks(Shape andColour) to work on specific areas of the image.
Here you can see the complete list of new additions.
Motion 5.2
Motion has also improved in the creation of titles, providing greater control and customization. In fact, most of the new features in this version are aimed at graphics.
Now you can create dynamic titles with multiple lights and cameras, as well as multi-layered scenes with shadows and reflections on your own objects, materials and environments, and instantly transfer them to Final Cut.
Compressor 4.2
It comes with a revamped interface that is more intuitive, with lots of encoding presets that you can customize, save as your own and that, thanks to this update, will also be faster.
Final Cut Pro X will also be able to access existing encoding settings in Compressor without leaving the editing system.
Also added is the ability to create an iTunes Store Package, for projects that will go to the iTunes Store.
If you are already a user of these systems, the upgrades are completely free. And if you are not, you can purchase Final Cut Pro X for $299, Motion and Compressor for $50 each.
