Apple updates its MacBook Pro laptops

Apple has announced an update to its MacBook Pro laptops with Retina display, making them faster and more affordable.

The main new features are the increase in processor speed and an increase in RAM memory. In addition, the entry price has also been lowered for several models.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro, both the one with and without Retina display, now features a new 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 processor (for the die-hard fans the model number is i7-3820QM). However, only the model with the Retina display is also available with the 2.8GHz chip.

The 15-inch Retina Display laptop is the standard for the MacBook Pro, and that is why Apple has decided to add more features to this one than to others in a lower category. Thus, the RAM has been increased to 16GB, compared to the previous 8GB.

The Retina display

The Retina display provides the highest resolution available on a laptop today, with four times the pixel count of the previous model at 2880 x 1800 and 220dpi. According to Apple, although this screen is very bright, it has 178 degrees of viewing width, 75% less reflection and 29% more contrast than the previous generation.

However, they have a shortcoming, and that is that although some companies such as Adobe have updated systems like Photoshop or Illustrator, giving support for Retina displays, there are still many professional applications that are still inadequate, such as InDesign or Autodesk Maya.

Connections

Among the connections available on one of these MacBook Pro we can find:

– SD card slot.
ports_right– HDMI output.
– Two USB3/USB2 ports (one on each side).
– Two Thunderbolt ports.
– A headphone jack.
– A new, slimmer MagSafe 2 for power supply

Other qualities

The new 15-inch MacBook Pro weighs 2’56Kg and, closed, is 2’4cm thick.

The battery offers up to 7 hours of battery life and 30 days of standby time.

It features 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, a FaceTime HD camera, dual microphones, Multi-Touch touch panel and backlit keyboard.

In addition, these notebooks allow personal configurations, with up to 768GB of internal flash storage, and feature the fastest graphics available among Mac notebooks, thanks to the Nvidia GeForce GT 650M.

Prices

The company has also lowered the entry prices of its laptops, leaving the 13-inch model, with 128GB of memory, for 1,529€ (VAT included); and if a new 2.6GHz processor and 256GB of memory are added, for 1,729€ (VAT included).

Apple has also announced that the 13-inch MacBook Air with 256GB of memory has been reduced to €1,429 (including VAT).

These new models are available now through the Apple Online Store, Apple Retail Stores and authorized resellers.
