Apple launches the coveted new Mac Pro 2019 after almost six months of waiting. In June we knew some of the main details of this new Mac Pro, but the date was reserved for autumn, and finally it is already on sale.
Apple announced it as the tool that every professional needs with more power and customization than ever. At first glance we already see changes in the design with a tower protected by a stainless steel structure and accessible from around its perimeter. They have given a lot of importance to the customization of each Mac and therefore have added a double-sided motherboard, for example. This motherboard design also allows you to have a large memory capacity with a system ofECC DDR4 channels and twelve DIMM slots.
The power strengths of the new Apple model include up to 28 cores and the Intel Xeon processor. A perfect composition to get the most out of the CPU for demanding jobs. The heating of the equipment working at such high power will not be a problem thanks to the ventilation system designed to expel hot air and keep the entire system cooled. To provide even more power, an MPX module has been added to the graphics card. PCIe lanes are built in and connected to the Mac Pro it’s like connecting a previous generation Mac Pro. Imagine the power that can be achieved with two Radeon Pro Vega II GPUs, one of the strongest on the market.
The new Mac Pro is available in 5 different designs with 8, 12, 16, 24 and 28 cores to meet the needs of all types of users. It also has a high bandwidth with a total of 8 PCI Express expansion slots.
Related to the world of film and post-production Apple highlights the option to work directly with 4K and 8K material in editing programs and forget about transcoding.
As you would expect, the Pro Display XDR also goes on sale as the perfect companion to the Mac Pro. Not for less, it was announced as the first 6K retina display on the market. 32-inch display capable of 1600 nits peak brightness and 1000 nits sustained brightness. It has a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 designed for the creation of HDR products.
The base price for the Mac Pro is €6,499 and thereafter, depending on the configuration you choose. As for the Pro Display XDR, there are two different models with prices of €5,499 or €6,499 depending on the type of glass we choose. To this price we would have to add another €1,000 for the screen support in case you are interested.
