Apple has just released an application called ProRes RAW with which we can access the ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ video format on any computer with a Windows operating system. Apple offers this application free of charge to Windows users and acts as a Windows plug-in that allows applications such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Premiere Rush or Media Encoder to work with the ProRes RAW format.
At the moment it is only available for these 4 applications of the Adobe suite as it is a beta version, on which work will continue, and hopefully it will be extended to other applications for video editing and postproduction.
Since the launch of the ProRes RAW format was launched in 2019Apple has not stopped promoting it as it is a codec that allows users to work with the RAW signal having data rates between the levels that work the ProRes 422, 422 HQ and 444 codecs in the case of ProRes RAW HQ. Higher quality when working with the signal without any increase in performance when working with it. Apple’s ProRes RAW was designed to work mainly in Final Cut Pro X and Afterburner, which increases the transmission speed when editing.
It is now available at The beta version of this new application is now available and we will have to keep an eye out for possible new features and updates that may affect other non-linear editing systems.
