Have you ever browsed through the tools available on the Arri website? It’s a section (“Tools“) that features the Alexa camera simulator and a number of other resources such as the Arri Look Creator, Arriraw Converter or an app that contains a pocket guide.
Now comes good news for those curious about the new Amira, as Arri has recently released the first version of the simulator for this camera.
The simulator is an interactive tool that helps users become familiar with the camera’s menu system and navigation. The user interface mimics the viewfinder of a real Amira, running on the first version of its software.
You will be able to use most of the controls and buttons, change settings, try the “ND Switch”, etc. Unfortunately, you won’t find the audio panel yet, but the company has promised to add it in later versions.
Also in the “Tools” section we will find the “Frameline Composer“, which allows us to create custom marks based on specific aspect ratio and frame size needs. These lines are generated as an XML file that can then be easily loaded into the camera.
Arri Amira’s simulator can be found here. And if you want to learn how to work with Alexa you can’t miss the Digital Cinema Camera Course that will start in June.
