These days ARRI has announced that the official distribution of its latest camera designed for documentary style, ARRI Amira, will begin this April.
Different configurations are available to allow users to tailor the camera to their needs. Packages include different internal options and there is also a choice of lens mount, batteries and bottom plate. Regardless of the initial configuration chosen, additional functionality can be upgraded at any time by purchasing a license from the ARRI website.
Amira Camera Set
This is the most economical model and includes:
- HD 1080i and 1080p
- 0.75-100 fps
- ProRes 422 and 422 (LT) recording in Rec 709
- Three looks
- Adjustable in-camera parameters for knee, gamma and saturation
- Peaking, zebra and false color
Amira Advanced
Additional features to the previous package are:
- 100-200fps
- Recording in ProRes 422 (HQ)
- Log C
- Unlimited Looks functions.
- Import of Looks
- On-camera ASC CDL correction
- Dynamic white balance (auto-tracking)
- Remote control via WiFi
- Bluetooth audio monitoring
- Pre-record function
Amira Premium
Additional features to the “Advanced” package are:
- 2K (2048 x 1152) and ProRes 4444 recording
- Import of customized 3D LUTs
ARRI has also announced that the Adobe Premiere Pro editing system is the first software to support color management of Amira’s QuickTime ProRes files, being able to include their looks and automatically convert from Log C to Rec 709. Similar developments in other editing tools are expected soon.
