It seems that the little sister of the D-21 is getting bigger and bigger and promises to unseat its predecessor. As if its original features were not enough (ISO 800, dynamic range of about 11 f-stops, logarithmic curve, RAW or Prores recording…) Arri has decided to go one step further and introduce Alexa Studio.
What’s new? Optical viewfinder and mechanical shutter and 4:3 size sensor for greater compatibility with anamorphic cinematographic lenses. In other words, if Alexa was initially intended for TV, advertising or “alternative” cinema, now Arri is launching directly to the most demanding market of cinematographers. Of course, the resolution apparently continues to be 108 lines.
Alexa Studio will make its presentation at IBC, sure to get people talking.
