Assimilate Inc has released the new Scratch software update , version 9.2. This new version includes important new featuresfocused directly on Scratch users. As if that wasn’t enough, Assimilate also announced its two new products Live Looks and Live Assist available in the latest Assimilate Product Suite 9.2.
One of the main new features included in version 9.2 is the possibility of working with several license keys in the same system simultaneously, as well as activating and deactivating the necessary licenses within a system in order to activate them in a different system. This set of activations can be performed directly from the Assimilate web site where you activate the unlock optionwhich is necessary to carry out these activations.
Scratch 9.2 has significantly changed its appearance by replacing the traditional color balls with sliders. When it comes to applying a LUT to our image, we will be able to do it in a customized way thanks to the new softness controls that have been added in the LUT menu. When applying a High or Low soft, it can be modified to make the clipping smoother and not so aggressive.
Good news for ACES, and is that from this version will work directly from the GPU to not have to work with LUTs created based on an IDT or ODT of the CTLs. The fact of not having to work from a LUT as a base allows us to work with different LUTs once the color space to color transformation has been applied, which was not possible before. This is a more accurate process and has also served to update the Rec709 and sRGB ODTs that no longer have the D60 white point. However, for those who want to work in D60, the option is still available. To do so, “use ACES-REC709 D60 transformation” must be activated.
For signal monitoring it has several reference monitors to configure them with different color spaces. There are several new features incorporated in color, all of which can be found on the Assimilate website.
There are many improvements in terms of formatting. To name just a few, ARRI material can have aspect information applied to it, modify ARRI RAW parameters such as white balance and tint, among others. It supports Metal and Afterburner graphics cards for GPU processing, and improves the implementation with AJA to capture and playback in 8K at 12 bits. We remind you that Live Looks and Live Assist are required to capture via SDI.
For collaborative work between several people, an annotation tool has been designed with which we can leave indications, highlight areas of the image both per shot and per frame.
As we announced at the beginning, Assimilate has added many new features and implementations to Scratch version 9.2, which is now available for you to work with.
