Atomos releases firmware version 8.4

Atomos has released a new firmware update, a version 8.4, for Ninja Inferno and the ShogunThe new firmware update, version 8.4, is aimed at improving the features offered by these recorders, as well as facilitating and improving workflows.

This firmware brings a series of new additions that have as one of the objectives to allow users with HLG features in their cameras, to take advantage of it, without being limited to the compression codecs they incorporate.

 

Among its most relevant features are the following:

  • Allows direct recording in HLG with its metadata containers in either Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHR .MOV from cameras such as the Sony FS5 and Panasonic GH5.
  • On the other hand, the HDR data included in the files, and transmitted via HDMI, provides information to adjust certain parameters such as gamut or gamma.
  • It allows the Varicam LT to be used to create slow-motion images in 2K at up to 240 fps, and to CNDG 4K 12bit Raw at 30 fps and 2K 10-bit Raw at 100 and 120 fps.
  • Supports IPP2 from RED.
  • Analog audio is now loop through compatible.
  • Audio support with Nikon cameras has been improved.
  • Support for 2TB drives has been optimized.
