Yesterday Autodesk released FBX Review for Mac OS X and iOS 7. It is a free standalone app that already debuted last year for Windows and offers VFX and animation professionals a set of tools with which to review 3D assets.
For example, if we are working with the 3ds Max system, we can send an animation file to anyone who has FBX Review installed on a computer or mobile device and the recipient will have a full menu of functions with which to view the assets.
New features
- ZIP file support: Asset review has been simplified with support for ZIP files containing both geometry and texture files. When opening a ZIP file, FBX Review automatically assigns textures, helping to streamline this process.
- Geometry cache support (desktop application only): support for playback using the geometry cache, including Maya, 3ds Max and Alembic format.
- Re-focusing the camera perspective: reviewers can now change the camera focus by simply double-clicking (or double-tapping on the screen in the case of a cell phone) on the desired area of focus.
In addition to OS X and iOS 7, FBX Review is also available for Windows 7 and Windows 8.
If you want to download the application for iOS 7 you can do it through this link; and if you want it for OS X you should go to this page.
