Avid launches its Media Central platform

Avid has released a new update of its Avid Media Central platform, a more agile and powerful tool for content creation. Media Central is designed primarily for “field” work. Through it, content creators and journalists will be able to easily access content hosted in the cloud as if it were hosted on their own computer.

Avid is a program widely used in television channels, news production and editing houses, but now it can become a basic tool for journalists who need to cover news almost immediately. The news, sports, demand immediacy in the information and for this Media Central is born, so that different departments can have access from anywhere to the same content.

The media management tools are fully customizable to be installed on any device and thus be able to work from different geographical locations with the same content. The tool configurations can be local and within the cloud can be public, private or hybrid. The content can be accessed from up to 6 different points and in real time. Thus, 6 teams can be playing, consulting or downloading the same content to achieve a collaborative creation between departments.

Avid has listened to the needs of professionals and has reasonably improved file ingest, cataloging and searching. One of the tools to highlight is the phonetic index. With this tool we can search for clips containing the words we indicate, very useful to search for a phrase of a total, for example.

They have also improved the ingest of files with the Log tool. Now you can tag information in real time as they occur with an input and output. Through the Ingest tool we will be able to quickly ingest large amounts of files from the computer desktop with the AMA or through a browser.

It remains to be seen whether Media Central will finally adapt to the needs of the new workflows imposed by new technologies and media.
