Avid Media Composer 2020.10 adds ProRes RAW support

The new 2020.10 update of Avid Media Composer is compatible with MAC OS version 10.15.7 allowing you to work with ProRes RAW files. If you want to learn more about this codec, then take a look at this article where we detail more about the benefits of ProRes RAW.

With the Universal Media Engine plug-in we can now link and play back ProRes RAW files, but it does not allow exporting them. 

Please note, for those who have MacOS version 10.14, you must have the Professional Video Format Pack installed. In case it does not appear, it can be downloaded for free. For Windows 10 system it will be necessary to install the Apple SDK, also available for download.  

Avid Media Composer, the non-linear editing tool, is constantly being updated and adding improvements and options. Although the addition of ProRes RAW is the highlight of this new version, other improvements have also been included.  

The Apple ProRes RAW codec is becoming available in more and more nonlinear editing programs, as recently announced in Abode Premiere Pro, Scratch, Baselight, Final Cut Pro X and others. 

This new update to Avid Media Composer 2020.10 is completely free for those who already have the software, and for those who want to purchase the Avid license, it will cost $239.
