We have already advanced, last April, in which Avid announced Avid announced, during the NABthat it would release a new software called Media Composer I First.
Avid, as expected, has already released its free version of Media Composer, called Media Composer | First.
A free version of your NLT available for Mac OS X.10.11 and 10.12; Windows 10 (Professional and enterprise), Windows 8.1 (Professional and Enterprise), and Windows 7 Professional.
Under the slogan “Essentially, Media Composer | First offers the same editing tools that your favorite filmmakers, editors and directors rely on every day. That’s why Media Composer | First opens the door to careers in the media and entertainment industry more than any other video editing tool. “Avid has released this software with the intention of facilitating a process of adaptation to its interface, without having all its features in its entirety, to facilitate, in this way, the jump to its paid version.
Unfortunately, Media Composer | First is limited to a timeline of four video and eight audio tracks, in contrast to the 24 video and 64 audio tracks available in its full version.
But its restrictions are not only present in the number of tracks it makes available to the user, but also in other aspects; such as resolution, being limited to a maximum of 1080p. The tools for color correction, audio editing and effects will also be limited, as well as the video export and ingest options, etc.
In order to make it easier to learn this software, Avid has made available a series of tutorials tutorials.
In short, and despite its restrictions, this is an ideal software for beginners who aspire to take their first steps in Avid; as well as professionals more accustomed to using other video editing systems who wish to expand their knowledge, or take the final step to this software.
