Barco launches 4K projector for digital post-production

Barco has just introduced the first 4K projector specially designed to meet the needs of digital cinema post-production; dedicated to archiving, restoration and color correction of content with this resolution.

This new projector is called DP4K-P and features a wide gamut, redesigned software and powerful input analysis.

High image quality

The DP4K-P comes with an input card (4 x 3Gb/s) that enables playback of native 4K content. In addition, it includes a special color filter that creates an extended gamut, superior to the current recommended DCI/SMPTE color space.

Each projector is calibrated for brightness and color uniformity above the standard for digital cinema projectors, and equipped with specially designed high-contrast lenses.

Sotware Communicator

This is one of its most attractive features, and the Communicator software has been revamped to provide greater control over the color space and allow individual color correction in each eye when working with stereoscopic content.

The overall look and feel of the interface has also been modified to suit a dark working environment. Its intuitive menu structure and the grouping of functionalities in one section allows quick navigation and improves workflow.

Powerful input analysis

If we combine Communicator with the quad input board, this software becomes a powerful input analysis tool. It allows to visualize the image content through a bit depth analysis on each of the inputs and it is also possible to compare these inputs on a split screen (diagonal, vertical, side-by-side and checker board).
