Baselight 5.0

Filmlight has released some details of the next version of its renowned color correction system: Baselight 5.0.

The most outstanding feature is Baselight Gradewhich separates from the traditional lift, gamma and gain controls to introduce a new set of tools based on exposure, temperature and balance. Naturally, this update also focuses on HDR, introducing the Color Space Families to specify the required working environments according to the delivery formats, and Gamut Optimizationwhich avoids clipping and a number of other artifacts that appear in the image when it cannot be reproduced correctly on a device.

Other new features include:

  • Perspective operator: to replace and project screens
  • Perspective tracking
  • Grid warper
  • A specific selector for green and blue screens
  • A tool for painting
  • The tool Relight tool tool for adding virtual lights

Finally, remote color correction support has been enhanced with new features for collaborative workstations, such as live monitoring of a color correction session or requesting system control to make changes.
