Blackmagic Design acquires Cintel International

Blackmagic Design has announced the acquisition of all the assets of Cintel International, one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of film scanners.

Cintel International was founded in 1927 and since then has positioned itself as one of the industry’s benchmarks in scanning and DI (Digital Intermediate). In addition, it has also contributed to the development of telecine and the introduction of new resolutions such as 2K and 4K.

However, earlier this year we saw the dissolution of this British company, thanks to which Blackmagic has managed to make this acquisition, obtaining the intellectual property and its entire line of scanning solutions. This includes the name, the brand and the rights to develop products such as the diTTo and dataMill digital scanners, URSA, C-Reality, DSX and the Millenium telecine, as well as imageMill for data management.

Service and support for Cintel customers will be handled from Cine Solutions, based in the UK and US. Both are independent of Blackmagic Design, and will supply spare parts, repairs with specialized services, and a 24-hour helpline.
