Hot on the heels of the original eGPU, Blackmagic Design has created a much more powerful Pro version of its device. The new eGPU Pro appears to offer a significant increase in data processing, and coincides with Apple’s new product announcements today.
Using the Radeon RX Vega 56 chipset, it features the following specifications.
8 GB of HBM2 RAM
2x Thunderbolt 3 ports
4x USB3 ports
HDMI 2.0
Displayport 1.4
power delivery DE 85w
The new device is consequently more expensive than the previous one. But we must remember that, this is not only a graphics card, but also a complete connectivity box that can also power the notebook if necessary.
On the other hand, Apple’s own company has just announced that new MacBook Pro models will be available with a Vega GPU inside. However, the Blackmagic eGPU Pro will allow those with older MacBook Pros to get that kind of performance for about half the price of investing in a new computer. The eGPU Pro will be available for purchase in late November.
You can get more information about it on Blackmagic Design‘s own official website.
