Blackmagic Design has revamped its ATEM mixer with the release of the ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K.
The new model has a machined aluminum design, with a front panel that routes the signal to each of its three available (independent) auxiliary outputs. The LCD display provides the necessary information to know the status of these outputs.
It is possible to control the mixer from a Mac or Windows computer, or to work directly with additional control panels, such as the ATEM 1 M/E Broadcast Panel and the ATEM 2 M/E Broadcast Panel.
All connections incorporate 6G-SDI and HDMI 4K technologies. It has 10 independent 6G-SDI inputs, with frame synchronization and it is possible to connect up to 10 computers, cameras or other recording devices for live productions in SD, HD or Ultra HD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolutions.
Two 6G-SDI programming outputs are also included, one in 4K HDMI and one for HD-SDI sub-converted signals (for when an HD signal is needed).
It offers all the functions of a professional mixer, with the ability to monitor alternating auxiliary outputs during the preparation and development of the production. Even if there is a power outage, the control panels or the connected computer are blocked, the mixer signal is not interrupted.
The media window is the one that allows storing graphics and now has greater capacity, supporting up to 32 images and 180 video frames in Ultra HD, or 720 frames in 1080p/1080i. In this way it is not necessary to have large graphics servers at our disposal. In addition, the Photoshop extension allows you to manage these elements from within the mixer itself.
Thanks to the processor, users can move, adjust or rotate any live image source. It can also be used to define the position of these 2D graphics and visual effects during presentations with simultaneous images or transitions.
Transitions can be with cuts, blends, fades of different colors, sweeps, or add effects directly from the media window to get a more customized one. In addition, there are 4 chrominance keyers, two of them at the back.
On the audio side, mixing can be performed on different channels and inputs for analog stereo audio, balanced on XLR, and a stereo RCA output.
Using this mixer in conjunction with HyperDeck Studio Pro, it is possible to capture work and master in Ultra HD for events, concerts, shows or any other type of live production.
