Video card developer Bluefish444 has announced a new plugin for Windows that will allow 4K HD SDI and 12 bit HD SDI footage to be displayed on Assimilate, Scratch and Scratch Lab systems.
Both companies, Bluefish444 and Assimilate, maintain an ongoing collaboration to provide their customers with the best viewing options. So now they have managed to develop this free plugin that will be included as an add-on for Epoch video cards, including the Epoch 4K Supernova.
Bluefish444 already announced some time ago that it would be adding this kind of improvements, when it released its driver to display s3D also through Epoch cards (you can read more about it here).
Using the Epoch 4K Supernova card, the supports for displaying 4K SDI in Scratch and Scratch Lab are as follows:
– Digital Cinema 4096 X 2160 4:2:2 YUV 8/10 bit HD-SDI
– Digital Cinema 4096 X 2160 4:4:4:4 RGB 8/10 bit Dual Link HD-SDI
– 4K QFHD 3840 X 2160 4:2:2 YUV 8/10 bit HD-SDI
– 4K QFHD 3840 X 2160 4:4:4 RGB 8/10 bit HD-SDI
– Up to 2048 X 1080 4:4:4:4 RGB 12 bit HD-SDI
– Color space conversion between 8, 10 and 12 bit, YUV and RGB for HD-SDI.
The ability to support 12-bit SDI allows Scratch users to visualize the true imaging potential provided by today’s digital cameras. In addition to making it possible to view their images in high bit depth from the reference monitor.
Demonstrations of these new features (using Sony’s BVM-E250 12-bit SDI OLED monitor) are planned for IBC, although this plug-in will not be available until October 2012. It will be available free of charge from the Bluefish444 website.
