Boris Continuum Complete 10 for Avid

Boris FX has released the Boris Conituum Complete (BCC) 10 VFX Collection for Avid Media Composer, calling it “the biggest upgrade in the product’s history.”

Thanks to the company’s acquisition of Imagineer Systems in 2014, BCC now features Mocha technology in many of its functions.

These are the added features and improvements:

• Version 10 brings an improved interface, with a new FX Browser that allows users to browse through thumbnails of effect presets and play them over their material in real time. It is possible to create your own presets and preview them in the same browser.

• Pixel Chooser: powered by Mocha’s planar tracker.

• Beauty Studio, with a new algorithm for better skin smoothing, and Remover, both driven by Mocha’s planar tracking and rotoscoping technologies.

• The Reframer tool is especially useful for reformatting materials that have been recorded in portrait and converting them to 16:9.

• The latest generation of Title Studio now allows you to import Cinema 4D models and generate 2D and 3D titles within Avid with full GPU acceleration.

• BCC Remover and BCC Dropout Fixer, both for image restoration. The former removes dead pixels and objects, with cloning and auto-fill options. The second takes care of damaged tape materials with drops or field problems.

• Some of the new real-time effects within the suite include Light Leaks, Video Glitch and the Cross Melt, Cross Glitch and Cross Zoom transitions.

Overall, the masking and tracking tools in BCC 10 provide much more powerful features for compositing tasks within Avid. In addition, BCC 10 contains a plug-in version of Mocha.

Boris Continuum Complete version 10 for Avid is priced at $1,695 and upgrading will cost $595. Boris FX has announced that Adobe and Final Cut Pro versions will be available very soon.
