Following its release for multiple post-production systems such as Media Composer, Avid DS or Adobe CS6, Boris Continuum Complete 8 (FxPlug) is now available for Final Cut Pro X and Motion 5.
This collection of VFX plug-ins is one of Boris FX‘s flagship products, and now comes with multiple new features that editors and graphic designers can use within Final Cut Pro (7 and X) saving time and effort.
BCC8 FxPlug contains more than 200 filters including text effects, 3D particles, flares, keys and mattes, blurs, glows, lighting effects with volume, restoration and color correction tools, transitions and some cinematic effects such as film grain or looks.
Newly added templates allow editors to use quality VFX from within Final Cut Pro. In addition, these templates can be created in Motion 5 and, taking advantage of the integration with Final Cut Pro, accessed directly from the editor without having to “jump” from one system to another.
Also included are new transitions, designed specifically for FCP X, with effects such as flares, blurs, wipes and dissolves.
For the first time in the BCC collection, filters called “Extrusions” have been included, which facilitate the creation of 3D objects using both shapes and text.
– Extruded Text: for the creation of 3D text.
– Extruded EPS: provides an easy way to import and modify Adobe Illustrator logos containing layers and vectors.
– Type-on Text: allows you to design animated text that goes from behind or in front of the camera or works as slides entering from above, below, right or left of the screen.
– Layer Deformer: generates 3D shapes (cubes, spheres, cylinders, etc.) and deforms them using a vertex function and pixel shading.
Many of the filters have the PixelChooser masking system. It is a fully integrated and very easy to use tool that allows you to apply a filter selectively, making a matte from the information of the color channels or geometric shapes.
Another integrated tool is tracking, which allows the user to select points to animate certain effects following the movement of an object or character.
Blur and glow effects can also be found in the collection.Lens Blur” creates a look traditionally achieved by adjusting the aperture of the camera lens.
On the other hand we have the “Glow“, very versatile, high quality and with multiple options. “Film Glow”: is a filter that offers precise control over the Glow settings by its color, X and Y axes for horizontal or vertical effects, width, and even with scales for each color of the image. This filter also provides several tools:
– Blend Modes, which determines how the glow is blended into the image.
– PixelChooser, for glow to affect a specific area of the image.
– Beat Reactor, for audio-guided glow effects.
– Motion Tracking, to track a glow with a given region in PixelChooser.
Finally, there is a restoration filter called “Flicker Fixer” to correct the flicker produced in some images.
Boris Continuum Complete 8 FxPlug is now available for $995, although upgrading from previous versions can be done for $295.
