The first workshop dedicated to online marketing for audiovisual content distribution is just around the corner. Therefore, as a teacher of this workshop, I would like to introduce a series of concepts for those who are interested in participating.
The main objective of a course of this type and, above all, of this duration (24 hours) is to work with the students on tangible elements. In other words, it would be of little use to teach theory without being able to apply it to the specific case of each participant.
This course is open to professionals who work, for example, in production companies and have to deal with the world of social networks either to promote their company or to support the marketing of their productions. It can also be useful for those short filmmakers who decide to seek support from the public to make their work known, regardless of the route it has in festivals or competitions. As you can see, it is applicable to any type of production or experience.
In short, I want the student to work on something real, to start building something that, once the workshop is over, has life and gives practical results. At the end of the day, the aim is not to train online marketing professionals, but rather to educate about the proper use of social media, so that the student, once the course is finished, knows what he/she wants and how to achieve it, regardless of whether or not, afterwards, he/she will have the collaboration of experts (agencies, community managers, etc.).
An element that I consider of great importance, also due to its current boom, is crowdfunding. I think it is essential to analyze what it is, but, above all, how it works. I do not intend to dogmatize through rules to be strictly followed, but my intention is that we put ourselves in the shoes of those who have opted for massive participation in the financing of their projects. My goal, in essence, is that the student can form his own opinion based on the data available.
Finally, on a personal level, I would like anyone who participates in this course to understand the enormous opportunities provided by social media, which is an excellent tool for understanding the market and the public. Today, we can conduct valuable market and target research; something that, in the past, meant a huge investment of money. Through a good online strategy, we have a huge territory to dive into in order to provide our “client” with the best product: in this case, something as valuable as an audiovisual work. I hope you enjoy it as much as I will enjoy teaching it.
