Calibration and color management course for digital video December 2013

hubbleonly 5-calibrate

After the success of our previous edition, we are back with this unique course in Spain. In this new edition we have decided to improve it by including a complete process of monitor profiling of several hours (for which the equipment will be left overnight). The next morning the students will evaluate the results with the teacher, thus performing a practice that is not carried out in any calibration course in the world.

All of us who work professionally with color in audiovisual we know the need for proper calibration of monitors and process management. However in recent times the complex digital range has made carrying out a project being consistent in color a difficult task. Although erroneously it could be thought that digital processes facilitate these tasks (as opposed to photochemical processes) the reality is that it is essential in any production a reasoned technical management of the image and color.

This course on color calibration and color management will lay the foundations to carry out the necessary workflows in digital cinema, broadcast television and internet projects. We will talk about monitor profiling, LUT creation and color correction and multimastering processes. Concepts such as ACES, CDL, P3, XYZ, 709 and many others that are increasingly present in every audiovisual production will be defined. In addition, practices will be carried out with different monitors, calibration elements and programs to exemplify what has been taught during the course.
