CalMAN 5.3 can load LUTs on monitors

SpectraCal is a developer of calibration software that has contributed to the increase of devices with 3D LUTs capabilities. For some time now CalMAN has included such functions, but it is now, with the 5.3 update, that we will be able to load these LUTs directly into a monitor.

The new 3D LUT technology has been designed in collaboration with a number of monitor manufacturers and will affect a select range, including EIZO ColorEdge, TVLogic XVM and some from Panasonic.

This feature eliminates the need for intermediate software and also makes it possible to use LUTs on monitors that cannot load them themselves and makes them independent of the color correction system.

The software synchronizes all hardware devices and point-to-point automatically calibrates the selected LUT. Digital patterns are then generated on the Grade 1 monitor via an HD SDI or HDMI cable. In turn, the meter communicates with CalMAN via a USB connection to measure color performance. Finally, a calibrated 3D LUT is automatically loaded without the need to generate, store and load it with a second color management software.

This simplified calibration process is available with CalMAN Studio 5.3 and over the coming months the company will be expanding support for more monitors.
