Yesterday we talked about the new EOS 6D Mark II, today we talk about another camera.
It is also a DSLR belonging to Canon, which was announced at the same time as the aforementioned Mark II.
We are talking about the new EOS Rebel SL2, which in Europe will receive a name along the lines of 200D. It was announced during the camera’s national day in the United States, held on June 29th.
The camera has a 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, which contrasts with the 18 megapixels of its predecessor, the EOS Rebel SL1, released four years ago.
In canon’s own words “The EOS Rebel SL2 is a small, lightweight, compact camera with high capabilities that allows users to develop their creativity when capturing special family moments, or great travel experiences.”
And let’s not forget, if the EOS Rebel SL1 was once heralded as the smallest and lightest DSLR ever. Fittingly, the SL2 has followed in its wake in terms of lightness, with a mere 390g (battery and memory card included), making it easy for users to be mobile and portable.
It also features a DIGIC 7 processor. As well as a 9-point Dual Pixel autofocus sensor, and a vari-angle LCD touchscreen for better viewfinder operation. And an ISO range from 100 to 25600.
As for video recording, it is limited to Full HD at 60 frames per second. It also has a four-axis stabilization system.
If we mentioned that the EOS 6D Mark II was a camera aimed at a more professional audience, or users who wanted to take a leap further in the photographic technique, the EOS rebel SL2 is a DSLR more aimed at a beginner audience who want to make the leap to something beyond smartphones or compact cameras.
This camera will be available on the market starting July 20, for a price of $549.
