Canon announces XF400, XF405, XA15 and XA11 camcorders

Returning to the line of products released in the context of the IBC, which will take place in Amsterdam from September 14 to 19, it is now Canon’s turn, with the launch of its new 4K cameras, XF400 and XF405. As well as the XA15 and XA11.

The difference between these two models does not go beyond the fact that, unlike the Canon XF400, the Canon XF405 has a 3G-SDI video connection.

In terms of features, these compact cameras feature a 1.0 type CMOS sensor that in combination with its Dual DIGIC DV6 Processor, allows these models to capture at 4K 50P resolution.

They also feature a 15x optical zoom lens with an equivalent range of 22.5-382.5 mm and an aperture between f/2.8 – f/11.

Regarding their connections, both cameras have HDM input, professional XLR audio output, LAN. As well as remote control and Wi-fi connection.

In short, they are quite light cameras (XF405 1,150 grams and XF400 1,145 grams) aimed at users who need a professional camera, but who have a smaller budget; community journalism, wedding cameramen, etc.

The XF400 will be available for a price of 3,309 euros, while the XF405 will be available for slightly more, 3,819 euros.

These two Full HD cameras are ideal, in the words of Canon, for recording environments that require a lot of action and in which both speed and mobility are essential factors, both speed and mobility are essential factors.. Thanks to its Dynamic Mode, with 5-axis stabilization, it has great stability.

They feature an HD CMOS Processor and, DIGIC DV4 processor, which allow them to work in low light situations. They also have a 20x optical lens with a focal length of 26.8mm – 576 mm.

They record in both MP4 and AVCHD formats. They also have HDMI inputs, XLR outputs, headphone jack, etc. The difference between the two cameras is that the XA15 also has SDI output.
