Canon EOS-1D C to be upgraded in November

Canon has scheduled a free firmware update for its EOS-1D C camera in November.

This DSLR with 4K recording will now feature enhancements for working with EF mount lenses, being able to store their metadata, as well as enable peripheral illumination and chromatic aberration correction. This peripheral illumination eliminates vignetting effects (corners darker than the rest of the image) and other uneven brightness levels caused by lens characteristics.

However, Canon has announced that the high-end CN-E30-300mm T2.95-3.7 LS and CN-E14.5-60mm T2.6 L S models will not be compatible with next month’s update.

Another improvement is the automatic reduction of flicker.

Apart from this, a few new features have been added concerning audio. A new option will allow audio line input through the current microphone input with a 3.5mm connector. This level will be at -8 dBV in standard, with peaks up to +6dBV and the levels have 64 steps of adjustment.

In addition, support for audio sources has been increased to improve the camera’s flexibility.

Although the update will not incur any cost, it will be necessary to send the camera to a Canon service center. You can find all the information on this page.
